About the Bootcamp

The Climate Teens Innovation Bootcamp 2026 was a three-day youth climate learning and innovation programme held in Abuja from 10–12 August 2026.

The programme was delivered by The Ebaidebheki Initiative (TEI), with technical partnership from Clean Technology Hub. It was designed to equip young people with knowledge, practical exposure and opportunities to develop climate-focused ideas.

Solution Ideas

Programme Sessions

Across the three-day programme, participants took part in sessions covering climate change, clean technology, green careers, climate enterprise and innovation.

Day 1

Climate & Clean Technology

Participants explored climate change fundamentals and Nigerian climate realities, followed by sessions on renewable energy, clean cooking and the circular economy.

Day 2

Green Careers & Enterprise

Participants were introduced to green careers, climate enterprise and opportunities within the growing green economy.

Day 3

Climate Innovation & Solution Building

Participants worked in teams to identify problems and develop early-stage climate solution ideas. Teams then presented their concepts and received feedback.

During the innovation exercises, participants developed a range of early-stage ideas addressing environmental and community challenges.

Solar-Powered Market Fans

A concept using solar energy to reduce generator dependence and improve comfort for traders and customers.

Plastic Waste into School Desks

A concept focused on recycling plastic waste into durable school furniture.

Green WhatsApp Radio

A concept for using WhatsApp voice messages and solar-powered speakers to share climate information.

Cool Roof Gardens

A concept exploring rooftop gardens as a way to reduce heat and increase urban greenery.

Waste-to-Biochar

An early-stage concept exploring the conversion of suitable farm and food waste into biochar.

Solar-Powered Waste-Collecting Drone

An early-stage concept exploring how solar-powered drone technology could support waste collection and recycling.

A Standout Moment

An 11-Year-Old Thinks in Systems

The youngest participant, aged 11, developed and presented an early-stage concept for a solar-powered drone that could move around collecting trash and supporting recycling.

Although the concept has not been technically validated, it demonstrated the creativity and systems thinking the programme sought to encourage among young participants.

SheLeads Green Jobs Fellowship

Nigeria's First Women-Only Green Jobs Programme

Overview

The SheLeads Green Jobs Fellowship is Nigeria's first women-only, internship-driven green jobs programme. Launched in June 2026 by The Ebaidebheki Initiative (TEI), it equips 20 young Nigerian women aged 18–30 with climate literacy, green skills, leadership training, and real-world internship experience to prepare them for leadership roles in Nigeria's green economy.

Orientation Ceremony

The programme officially commenced with an inspiring Orientation Ceremony held on 3 June 2026. Fellows were welcomed by TEI's Executive Director alongside distinguished guest speakers who introduced the vision of the fellowship, outlined expectations, and encouraged participants as they began their 12-week journey.

✅ Phase 1 – Foundation Practicals

Fellows completed environmental restoration practicals through a nationwide Tree Planting Exercise across Nigeria's six geopolitical zones, planting more than 60 trees in schools and orphanage homes. The Abuja practical at Abuja Children's Home on 27 June 2026 featured the planting of Mango, Pawpaw, Lemon, Moringa and other fruit trees while engaging children who enthusiastically joined the exercise.

🚀 Phase 2 – Innovation & Skills Practicals

Fellows are currently progressing into practical innovation projects including upcycling, renewable energy prototypes and climate-tech advocacy campaigns, translating classroom learning into impactful community solutions.

Environmental Restoration in Action

Across Nigeria, fellows have already begun creating measurable environmental impact through coordinated tree planting, community engagement and climate awareness activities that demonstrate practical leadership beyond the classroom.

We proudly celebrate the pioneering Cohort 1 fellows who are laying the foundation for a new generation of female leaders in Nigeria's green economy.

The TEI, as an advocacy platform, has evolved beyond its core advocacy mission and has become an active force for change through partnerships with other youth-led NGOs.
